Bring Chicago Home Canvass

Join us to knock doors for Bring Chicago Home with ONE Northside! We’ll be talking with our neighbors about the Bring Chicago Home referendum and why it's important we VOTE YES to more housing in the upcoming March primary. . Sign up here.

What is Bring Chicago Home?

With over 68,000 people homeless in Chicago, the Bring Chicago Home coalition aims to create a dedicated revenue stream for the city to address homelessness by funding more permanent housing and supportive services. The proposal would be funded by changing the Real Estate Transfer Tax (RETT), a one-time tax on properties when they are sold, to a progressive structure. So properties sold for under a $1 million--roughly 96% of real estate sales in Chicago--would receive a tax cut, while properties sold for over $1 million would see a slight increase to the transfer tax. In order to enact this policy, Chicago voters need to VOTE YES on the referendum that will be on the March 19 primary ballot.

Blue Thursday Political Happy Hour with Renato Mariotti

Are you keeping up with the Former Guy’s numerous legal entanglements? Of course not, how could you? So many indictments! So many venues! So many flipping witnesses and flopping motions! Fortunately our friend Renato Mariotti will be with us at this month’s Blue Thursday. You know Renato from Politico, CNN, and the podcast It’s Complicated, among many other outlets. He’s the former federal prosecutor everyone wants to talk to. He’ll bring us up to date on the Trials of the Stable Genius and whatever other legal matters are on the docket January 18.

Blue Thursday is a monthly mixer hosted by Indivisible Chicago and its Hideout-based chapter Blue Beginning. It’s a chance to connect with pols, insiders, and fellow activists over cool beverages and hot political gossip. The official program runs 6-7 PM, but you’re welcome to come early and stay late for some first-class schmoozing. Free and open to all well-behaved adults, but please RSVP here: https://www.mobilize.us/indivisiblechicago/event/597195/.
