The Illinois Supreme Court has ruled: The Bring Chicago Home referendum* is on the March 19 primary ballot to stay. The votes will be counted and the voters will have their way. Now it's on us: we have 5 days to win this once and for all. We'll do it the way we've always done it: knocking doors, making calls, getting our neighbors out to vote. We need you to join us.
➔ Sign up to canvass with one of Bring Chicago Home's neighborhood partners
➔ Sign up for an all-in phone bank Sunday 4-7
➔ Volunteer on Election Day, Tuesday March 19, our last best chance to talk with voters as they head into the polls
➔ Finally, come to the election night party!
* In case you've been seeing the wrong TV ads, Bring Chicago Home is a proposal to fight homelessness with an increase in the real-estate transfer tax to be paid by Chicago's most fortunate. It is a one-time tax paid when property is sold, NOT a recurring property tax as opponents would have you believe. For most people the rate will go down, not up. The real estate crowd tried to get the question off the ballot, but the courts have ruled in favor of the many.
This is the progressive policy we've been working for: let's Bring It Home! |
