Thursday, October 6 - Canvass for Sean Casten 10/9 / Help Register Voters in Jail / Why Money Bond Harms Survivors

Actions You Can Take Today

Action 1: Canvass for Sean Casten 10/9

Come meet Sean Casten and help make sure he is re-elected to Congress. Every seat is a must-win for Illinois, and Sean needs to reach the 70% of his district that is new this election. Sean will join us to kick off our canvass at 2pm, and we will be knocking on doors on the southwest side of Chicago. We will arrange carpools, and pair you with a veteran canvasser if this is your first time or you need a refresher.

Join the canvass on Sunday, October 9 from 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM in Nathan Hale Park (6258 W 62nd St)

Action 2: TOMORROW - Help Register Voters in Jail

Voters detained in the jail will have a chance to cast their ballots on October. 22-23rd and 29-30th. Until then, Chicago Votes will be going into the jail regularly for voter registration.

If you are interested in registering voters in Cook County Jail, please attend a Cook County Jail Votes training. The Cook County Jail Votes training occurs virtually, on a monthly basis, and is REQUIRED in order to enter the jail.

The next virtual training will be TOMORROW, Friday, October 7th at 5 pm.

Action 3: Why Money Bond Harms Survivors 10/13

Join Ascend Justice, Women’s Justice Institute, and Chicago Community Bond Fund for a teach-in about the impact that money bond has on survivors of gender-based violence in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. During this teach-in, we will hear from criminalized survivors who are currently incarcerated at Logan Correctional Institution about the violence of pretrial incarceration and the support they deserve.

Join the virtual event on Thursday, October 13 from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM

Action via Chicago Community Bond Fund
