Action 1: Phone Banks This Week!
There are THREE opportunities to phone bank this week to help build our 2022 progressive coalition!
TOMORROW - Phone bank for Lauren Underwood Tuesday at 6 p.m. We backed Lauren Underwood in her first run for Congress, in 2018, and since the she has been making us proud and impressing her constituents. But her district has been redrawn to include many voters who are not familiar with her accomplishments. And the the Rs will be coming after her this fall with all the dark money and name-calling they can muster. Help us get her story out in our weekly phone bank.
Wisconsin phone bank Wednesday at 4 p.m. We've teamed up with WisDems to reach voters who lean Democratic but don't always vote. We'll be emphasizing the importance of voting in 2022, encouraging them to apply for mail-in ballots, answering questions when we can, and directing them to WisDems' excellent voter hotline.
Saturday, July 30 at 4 p.m. (Indivisible Illinois-sponsored) We'll be phone-bank partying every Saturday until the Saturday before the November election for candidates like Lauren Underwood, Cindy Cunningham, and Debbie Davis.
Can’t make it this week? See all upcoming phone banks.
Action 2: Public Comment to Protect Trans Children’s Rights
Joe Biden has proposed a change to Title IX to protect the rights of trans children in schools, and the proposal is open for public comment. The comments are currently being flooded by anti-trans misinformation and bigotry. NOW is your chance to stand up for trans rights!
Take a few minutes today to leave a public comment on this proposed change. Some points to consider for your comments:
Title IX has protected women’s rights for decades. As our understanding of sex and gender continues to change, we must also protect the rights of trans and gender-nonconforming children in schools. They, too, have a right to an education and our protection.
The proposed rule is a necessary change that is within the rights of the Department of Education to protect all children in schools.
Action 3: Wisconsin Canvassing on 8/6
On Saturday, August 6 join us knocking doors in neighboring Wisconsin to help win critical contests this year for Governor and U.S. Senate in this key battleground state. We'll depart Chicago at 7:15am from Backlot Coffee( 3982 N Avondale Ave) for Waukesha. Following a briefing at 9:00am, we'll canvass the rest of the morning with partners from the Waukesha Democratic Party, then de-brief over pizza.
Anyone who wants to can continue to canvass during the afternoon. We’ll arrange deep canvassing, minivan training, and info needed to have effective one-on-one conversations with voters and pair you with a veteran canvasser if this is your first time or you need a refresher. Carpools are available for those who need a ride.
While some of these Daily Actions come from our own work as Indivisible Chicago Alliance, others are from our many partners working to advance the progressive agenda. We invite you to join us in supporting their work. Postings from partners do not imply Indivisible Chicago Alliance endorsement of specific policies and positions.
