Action 1: Let Freedom Read Day 10/7
The freedom to read is under attack — let’s do something about it!
On October 7, 2023, we’re asking everyone to take at least one action to help defend books from censorship and to stand up for the library staff, educators, writers, publishers, and booksellers who make them available!
Check out actions you can take in just 5, 10, or 30 minutes!
And don’t forget: Censorship won’t stop just because Banned Books Week does — you can take action any day of the year!

Action 2: Evanston Pro-Choice Rally 10/15
The Pro-Choice March and Rally aims to foster a dynamic platform for voices championing reproductive rights, access to healthcare, and ways to support the movement long-term. It will serve as a powerful demonstration of solidarity and a call to action for policymakers and society to recognize and protect the fundamental right of individuals to make their own decisions about their bodies and reproductive health.
This event will feature a diverse lineup of speakers, including prominent activists, healthcare providers, legal experts, and community leaders who will share their personal stories, insights, and expertise on the importance of upholding reproductive rights. The rally will also include performances by artists who use their creative expression to amplify the message of choice and bodily autonomy.
The Pro-Choice March and Rally is an inclusive event that welcomes people from all backgrounds, genders, and beliefs who support the principles of bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with local organizations, sign petitions, and learn about various ways to get involved in the ongoing fight for reproductive justice.
