Tuesday, November 14 - Call for a Ceasefire / Blue Thursday Political Happy Hour 11/16

Action You Can Take Today

Action 1: URGENT - Keep Calling for a Ceasefire

Along with all of the world, we have watched the events unfold in Israel and Gaza. We share in the expressions of horror and grief at the loss of over 1,400 lives in Hamas’ brutal attacks on October 7 and in the ongoing Israeli bombardment and blockade that have resulted in the deaths of more than 10,000 Palestinians, a number that grows by the hour.  We understand that our members and those who share our progressive values may have different and deeply held views about the Middle East. At the same time, we are united by our shared humanity, and this is the context in which we send this message.

The situation on the ground in Gaza is dramatically worsening. It’s particularly dire for the doctors, patients, and refugees at al-Shifa Hospital, where a lack of fuel, power, water, and food is putting hundreds at risk of disease and death. At least 32 patients, including three premature babies, have died over the past three days.

We urge our members of Congress to support an immediate ceasefire, to ensure humanitarian aid to residents of Gaza, to continue to demand the release of all hostages, and to block US military aid to Israel that would cause additional civilian deaths in Gaza. Please join us by contacting your Representative, and Senators Duckworth and Durbin with these same demands. Call them daily—it makes a difference!

Action 2: Blue Thursday Political Happy Hour 11/16

Blue Thursday, hosted by Indivisible Chicago and its Hideout-based chapter Blue Beginning, is a political mixer where Indivisibles and activists meet and mingle with elected officials, journalists, and political insiders. This month our special guests are two veteran campaign consultants who will help us look ahead to (forgive us) The Most Important Election of Our Lives--Robert Creamer and Pete Giangreco. Between the two of them, they've worked dozens if not hundreds of statewide and national campaigns. The talk will be loose, the bar will be open, and the company will be excellent.

Join us for the Blue Thursday Political Happy Hour on Thursday, November 16 from 5:30 – 7pm at The Hideout (1354 W Wabansia Ave)! Free and open to all, but please RSVP here.

While some of these Daily Actions come from our own work as Indivisible Chicago Alliance, others are from our many partners working to advance the progressive agenda. We invite you to join us in supporting their work. Postings from partners do not imply Indivisible Chicago Alliance endorsement of specific policies and positions.
