Action 1: Pass the SCERT Act
In November, Chicago Votes registered 191 people to vote inside Cook County Jail. The vast majority of people inside Cook County jail are being held pretrial (have been accused, but not convicted of a crime). That means they have the right to vote!
You can help this mission by becoming a CCJ Votes volunteer, in a few steps. Start by completing the fully online, self-paced Cook County Jail Votes training. Once you complete the training course, you will begin receiving monthly CCJ Votes opportunities in your inbox!

Action 2: Pass the SCERT Act
Reports have shown that Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito have accepted perks like luxury vacations on private jets and yachts – that add up to hundreds of thousands of dollars –from billionaires with questionable motives.
This calls the Court’s impartiality and fairness into question. How can we trust that their decisions were made fairly when they’re accepting gifts from the parties involved? The Supreme Court is supposed to be a fair arbiter of the law and the constitution, not a vending machine that grants favors to billionaires.
That’s why Congress must pass the Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency Act (SCERT) to create meaningful and enforceable ethical guidelines for SCOTUS as well as a binding code of conduct for all justices.
SCERT is a crucial first step to protect our democracy, so we need all of our Democratic Members of Congress to sign on and make it clear they won’t condone a corrupt Court. Then, we need to call our Republican members who refuse to hold the MAGA justices accountable.
