Friday, February 24 - Abortion Rights & Access Briefing / GenZ’s Power at the Voting Booth

Action You Can Take Today

Action 1: Abortion Rights & Access Briefing Monday

Please join the ACLU of Illinois on Monday for a special virtual briefing on the ACLU’s work following the Supreme Court’s devastating decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, including our most recent efforts in Springfield to pass the recently signed House Bill 4664. This measure reinforces protections for abortion and gender-affirming health care in Illinois. The event will feature ACLU of Illinois reproductive rights advocates in discussion on this measure, the nationwide abortion rights landscape, and the critical work ahead.

Join the Special Virtual Briefing: Abortion Rights and Access on Monday, February 27, 4 p.m. (virtual event).

Action 2: GenZ’s Power at the Voting Booth on 3/2

Join Indivisible Rural Illinois on Zoom to hear from two GenZ's about how they have been able to help change voting behavior of others in their generation to help GOTV, and have influence on our elections.

Victor Shi is currently a student at UCLA, host of the daily show “On the Move with Victor Shi,” Strategy Director for Voters of Tomorrow, and weekly columnist for Resolute Square. Victor also co-hosts a nationally acclaimed podcast with Jill Wine-Banks called iGen Politics. He has interviewed such renowned people as Alexander Vindman, Fiona Hill, Rep Adam Schiff and James Clapper. He previously was elected as the youngest delegate for Joe Biden, an organizer for President Biden's 2020 campaign, and White House Intern.

James Manrique started the non-partisan group Champaign County Voters' Alliance in 2017. Since that time, he has put out an online Champaign County Candidates' Guide (VoteChampaign.org) that features every candidate in Champaign County running for a contested seat in every election, whether it be a primary or general, federal/county or municipal. It is one of the most thorough candidate guides around. He is also on the Board of directors of the League of Women Voters in Champaign County. He does not just aim at registering students to vote, he works at getting them out to vote.

Please join us to hear from these two powerful young men at The GenZ Generation: Their Power At The Voting Booth on Thursday, March 2 at 7:30 PM – 9 PM (virtual event). Share the event on Facebook
