Friday, March 3 - Blue Beginning Happy Hour: Blue Thursday Mayoral Recap (3/16)

Action You Can Take Today

Action 1: Blue Beginnings Happy Hour 3/16

Blue Beginning, the Hideout-based chapter of Indivisible Chicago, invites you to an early evening of drinks, gossip, and schmoozing with political insiders and fellow activists. This month we’re handicapping the mayor’s race with Gregory Pratt, the Tribune’s man in City Hall, and Shia Kapos, author of the must-read Politico Illinois Playbook.

RSVP for your free ticket to the Blue Beginning Happy Hour: Blue Thursday Mayoral Recap on Thursday, March 16 at The Hideout (1354 W Wabansia Ave)

Action 2: Stop Letting Republicans Block Judges

Federal judges have an outsized impact on the execution of national policy. One conservative judge in the right position can completely block progress, or delay it enough to make it essentially useless. Biden has been nominating judges at a historic pace (with over 100 nominations already), but Senate Democrats are still handing significant power to Republicans to block confirmations through an archaic Senate rule called the “blue slip.” Unsurprisingly, Republicans did not follow this rule when they controlled the Senate under Trump. Some Democrats have recently signaled they’re open to eliminating this rule, something they have the power to do immediately.

Tell your Democratic senator to support ditching the “blue slip” today!

While some of these Daily Actions come from our own work as Indivisible Chicago Alliance, others are from our many partners working to advance the progressive agenda. We invite you to join us in supporting their work. Postings from partners do not imply Indivisible Chicago Alliance endorsement of specific policies and positions.
