Stand Up for Asylum Seekers TONIGHT!

We need your help to support the hundreds of asylum seekers who recently arrived in Chicago, many sent abruptly and without warning by Texas Governor Greg Abbott. This is a humanitarian crisis in our city, with shelters full and families forced to sleep on the floors of police stations while the city and state governments struggle to find a solution.

The 38th ward is holding a public meeting tonight to discuss the issue. The meeting is limited to 38th ward residents and we can anticipate that there will be a conservative, anti-immigration presence.  To counteract this message and show that Chicago is a welcoming city of migrants, we are planning to gather outside the community meeting at Wilbur Wright College (4300 N. Narragansett Ave.) at 5:30 p.m.

  • If you live in the 38th Ward -- please attend the community meeting and welcome migrants to Chicago.

  • If you do not live in the 38th Ward, come and show your support outside the event

  • If you would like to work on the immigration issue with us, fill out this form and we will be in contact about an upcoming meeting.

Neighbors across our city have mobilized to provide food, clothing, bedding and urgently needed services for these families, underlining once again that ours is a generous, welcoming city for all, with citizens who share values of believing that all of us deserve to be treated with decency, dignity, respect and compassion.

While some of these Daily Actions come from our own work as Indivisible Chicago Alliance, others are from our many partners working to advance the progressive agenda. We invite you to join us in supporting their work. Postings from partners do not imply Indivisible Chicago Alliance endorsement of specific policies and positions.
