Action You Can Take Today

Action 1: WE Must Control Our Bodies Protest Saturday

Join a protest AGAINST the "Pro-Life Action League" when it comes to Chicago on June 24th! June 24th is the one-year anniversary of the Supreme Court decision that overturned the nationwide right to abortion. But the attacks on abortion are a symptom of a larger problem: the drive-by rightwing organizations, judges, and politicians to control our own bodies. A tidal wave of legislation in state after state is attacking the rights of Trans people to get gender-affirming healthcare and to participate in public life through sports, restroom access, and more.

In April, the ACLU noted that there are at least 417 anti-LGBTQ bills in state legislatures outlawing everything from equal marriage rights for same-sex couples to LGBTQ-inclusive education in public schools. This spring, the Supreme Court is set to rule on a case, 303 Creative v. Elenis, that could overturn local laws guaranteeing equal access to public accommodations for LGBTQs.

Anti-abortion Texas judges are currently "reviewing" a right-wing organization's legal case that aims to impose a nationwide ban on Mifepristone, one of two drugs used to perform medication-based abortions – 54% of the abortions currently performed in the United States. That case could be heading to the Supreme Court as early as this fall.

In LGBTQ Pride Month and on the one-year anniversary of the overturn of Roe v. Wade, reproductive rights and LGBTQ liberation organizations are uniting with one voice to say: WE Must Control Our Bodies!

Please join us as we protest against the far right and celebrate the core spirit of the 1969 Stonewall Rebellion that rebirthed the LGBTQ movement: Only WE can free us!

Come out for a counter-protest: WE Must Control Our Bodies! on Saturday, June 24 at 10 a.m. at 219 S Dearborn St.
