Action 1: TODAY Drop the Charges on the Tampa 5! Chicago Solidarity Rally
Join us TODAY, Wednesday July 12th, 6pm at Federal Plaza to stand in solidarity with the Tampa 5, who are facing up to 10 years in prison just for protesting against Ron Desantis's attacks on diversity in higher education.
Desantis and other white supremacists are trying to roll back the rights won by oppressed people across the country, especially the right to protest. The Tampa 5 were brutalized by police and then hit with felony charges, and many other freedom fighters have experienced the same kind of backlash in recent years.
All working class and oppressed people should join the resistance against the backlash from those in power. A win for the Tampa 5 will be a win for all of us. Check the NAARPR website for more information on the Tampa 5.

Action 2: TOMORROW Blue Thursday Fun Fest with Jon Langford
We're putting the political talk aside this month for an evening of political entertainment. Guests include our comrade Jon Langford, beatbox harmonica whiz Yuri Lane, actor-activist Carla Stillwell, and comedy from our longtime friends in the Chicago improv community. Mix and mingle starting at 5:00, show begins at 6:00. All are welcome, admission is free, but please RSVP here.
Blue Thursday is our monthly political mixer at the Hideout, the coolest bar in town. If you can't join us in person, watch the livestream on our Facebook page or catch the recorded version on 820 WCPT, Chicago's Progressive Talk.
