Action You Can Take Today

Let Your Representative Know That All Workers Need Water Breaks

All Workers Need Water Breaks

As we’ve all experienced record-breaking heat this summer, workers across the country have been left without any federal protections to ensure safe working conditions in extreme heat.

All workers need – and deserve – adequate time to rest and take water breaks as well as access to medical services for heat-related illnesses. We can’t rely on employers to provide those protections on their own. Some Republicans, like Governor Greg Abbott in Texas, are even moving to eliminate local heat protections for workers, an outrageous attack on their safety. There needs to be a federal workplace heat standard that protects the health and safety of workers.

Ask your representative to support creating federal standards so that all workers have water breaks and other heat protections. Let them know that you, and workers across the country, are counting on them to ensure that all workers have a safe work environment, no matter how hot it is outside

Call your representative today and let them know that all workers need water breaks!
