Wednesday, August 30 - Tell Congress: Reunite Afghan Families / Do Better, Durbin Tactics Training TODAY
Action You Can Take Today
Action 1: Tell Congress: Reunite Afghan Families
Action 2: TODAY - Do Better, Durbin tactics training on Wednesday, August 30 at 7:30 p.m. (virtual event)
Action 1: Tell Congress: Reunite Afghan Families
At least 1,550 children came to the United States as Unaccompanied Afghan Minors after the fall of Kabul. Two years later, the trauma of that separation is a constant ache for these children. Many of them are still waiting to reunite with their families.
The Afghan Adjustment Act would significantly help the children we serve and the thousands of other Afghan refugees who were quickly relocated out of danger two years ago.
Please urge your members of Congress to pass the bipartisan Afghan Adjustment Act quickly to bring safety and security to the innocent children separated from their family and homeland. Find your representatives and call them today!

Action 2: TODAY - Do Better, Durbin Tactics Training
Last week, Meagan Hatcher-Mays joined the Do Better, Durbin call for a deep dive into blue slips, SCERT/ethics updates, and Supreme Court expansion. If you missed the meeting or want to look back on any parts of it, click here for the recording.
We also discussed the custom DO BETTER, DURBIN ADVOCACY TOOLKIT. The toolkit includes background information and different tactics for people to engage on different levels and scales. We will continue to update and revise the toolkit as needed. We want to encourage people to keep doing what they've already been doing AND join scaled-up, collaborative statewide efforts for the best chances of influencing Senator Durbin to DO BETTER on court issues!
Some of the tactics and tools may be new or challenging to folks. We want to make them more approachable for you! Please join the Do Better, Durbin TACTICS TRAINING, TODAY, Wed, Aug 30 at 7:30 p.m. Register here.
Even seasoned activists can benefit from tactics training topics like how to push back during calls and office visits, how to use the new constituent cards tactic, and how to make the most of our Slack Workspace.
We also have two great communications resources for court advocacy activists in Illinois to discuss actions they are taking, ask questions, brainstorm ideas, share news, etc.
