Friday, December 20 - Do NOT Privatize the USPS Now or Ever / We Want to Hear From You

Actions You Can Take

Action 1:

For nearly 250 years, the United States Postal Service (USPS) has been a vital lifeline for every community across our nation. But now, Trump and his billionaire allies are pushing to privatize it, putting profits ahead of people.

Privatizing the USPS would have dire consequences, especially for rural communities, seniors, veterans, and small businesses—millions of Americans who depend on affordable, reliable mail service. Higher costs and reduced access are just the start; many areas could lose mail services altogether.

We successfully fought back against Trump’s privatization efforts in 2018 through a united public outcry. Now, with pressure mounting from billionaires like Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, it’s time to raise our voices even louder.

Call your members of Congress today and demand they stand against privatization. The USPS is more than just a service; it’s a promise to all Americans, and we need to protect it from being sold off to Wall Street.

Action 2: We Want to Hear From You

It’s been a difficult couple weeks for all of us. We all fought for four years to defeat Trump and get him out of office. Then, again, we all worked to try to elect Kamala. But despite our great efforts, Trump was once again elected.

And now we watch cabinet nominations roll out that range between appalling and unqualified (usually a mix of both), and it’s hard to feel hopeful. And that’s by design, as fascism requires us to lose hope. But despite being out of power, we still have levers we all can pull in the coming years and we are ready to fight back.

Here at Indivisible Chicago, we started working the day after the election was called, and we can see that we aren’t alone. In the aftermath of the election, we have seen a surge in signups unlike anything we’ve seen since the early days of 2017. As we continue to grow our membership for the battle ahead, we want to know more about you. Could you take a minute to fill out this form and let us know how you want help us take action?

While some of these Daily Actions come from our own work as Indivisible Chicago Alliance, others are from our many partners working to advance the progressive agenda. We invite you to join us in supporting their work. Postings from partners do not imply Indivisible Chicago Alliance endorsement of specific policies and positions.
