Friday, April 5 - Prescription Drug Act Lobby Day 4/10 / Call for a Permanent Ceasefire

Actions You Can Take

Action 1: Prescription Drug Act Lobby Day 4/10

The Prescription Drug Act has been assigned to the House Healthcare Availability & Access Committee. If passed, HB4472/SB3108 would create a Prescription Drug Affordability Board (PDAB).

A Prescription Drug Affordability Board (PDAB) is an independent body with the authority to evaluate high-cost prescription drugs and set reasonable rates for Illinoisans to pay.

Prescription drugs don’t work if you can’t afford them. A PDAB is the solution we need to ensure that all Illinoisans pay only what is fair for the medications they need.

We’re taking our advocacy to the State Capitol! Join the Citizen Action/Illinois team for a Virtual Lobby Day for the Prescription Drug Affordability Act on Wednesday, April 10th. This is an exciting opportunity to join fellow healthcare advocates in taking action by speaking to legislators about our bill to make prescription drugs more affordable for Illinoisans – either at the Capitol or from your own home.

Action 2: Demand a Permanent Ceasefire

The ongoing Israeli bombardment and blockade in Gaza has resulted in the deaths of over 33,000 Palestinians, including more than 12,300 children, with 1.5 million people displaced in unimaginable conditions. The Famine Review Committee reported that Gaza is facing “imminent famine,” and we are about to witness the most intense famine since the second world war. Children are already dying of malnutrition, and many more will die if the Israel army continues to kill humanitarian workers trying to feed starving people.

We urge our members of Congress to support an immediate ceasefire, to ensure humanitarian aid to residents of Gaza, to continue to demand the release of all hostages, and to block US military aid to Israel that would cause additional civilian deaths in Gaza. Please join us by contacting your Representative, and Senators Duckworth and Durbin with these same demands. Call them daily—it makes a difference!

While some of these Daily Actions come from our own work as Indivisible Chicago Alliance, others are from our many partners working to advance the progressive agenda. We invite you to join us in supporting their work. Postings from partners do not imply Indivisible Chicago Alliance endorsement of specific policies and positions.
