Thursday, May 16 - MI and WI Canvassing / Canvass Training

Actions You Can Take

Action 1: MI and WI Canvassing

The 2024 election is likely to be decided in a handful of swing states and Indivisible Chicago canvassers are talking to voters in two of them.

Volunteers who’ve knocked doors in Michigan and Wisconsin this month report numerous positive chats with voters about what matters to them in this year’s election.

Nothing has more impact on elections than one-to-one voter conversations. You could be the one to turn out crucial voters this fall.

Indivisible Chicago specializes in making it easy to canvass, with expert training, background materials, meticulous logistics, and dozens of veteran canvassers who will walk with you and show you the ropes. We’ll even get you a ride if you need one.

Sign up today for our June canvasses to help make the biggest difference possible in what is, once again, the most important election of our lifetime.

Check out our Action Calendar for more upcoming canvass dates in Wisconsin and Michigan.

Action 2: Canvass Training

Ask any political pro: the most effective work we can do is face-to-face conversations with voters at their doors. But door-knocking  is a stretch for a lot of us. That’s why we’ve developed Yes You Canvass, our training class for newbies (and experienced canvassers who want to brush up).

We take the mystery out of canvassing. It’s easier than it looks!

You’ll learn what to expect, how it works, things to do and avoid. We’ll answer your questions and pass along tips accumulated over years of successful canvassing. And we’ll be joined by some friends from Chicago’s improv community, who will share the communication skills they’re famous for.

These training sessions are being hosted by Indivisible Chicago chapters but are open to activists across the city. We’ve also invited our friends at Swing Left and other allied groups to join us.

Sign up here for one of the training sessions scheduled for May:

  • Tuesday, May 21, 6:30-8 PM, hosted by the Indivisible Downtown chapter at Grace Place, 637 S Dearborn

  • Wednesday, May 22, 6-7:30 PM, hosted by Indivisible Lincoln Square at Sulzer Regional Library, 4455 N Lincoln

And watch this space for more training sessions coming soon.
