Action 1: Witness Slip Roundup

Illinois’ unique system of witness slips makes it easy for citizens to weigh in on important bills quickly using an online form. Before a bill is heard in the Illinois General Assembly, the chairperson will read who has submitted witness slips and whether they support or oppose the bill. This helps inform legislators as to where Illinoisans and organizations stand before voting. Witness slips are a great and relatively quick way to make your voice heard in state government.

Here are a few important bills collecting witness slips for hearings this week. See a description of the bills from She Vote IL.

Action 2: Join a Social Media Blitz #JusticeCan’tWait

We must keep the MAGA Supreme Court Justices from shielding Trump from accountability.

The Supreme Court’s MAGA majority has already interfered in the 2024 presidential election, handing Donald Trump the massive gift of delays as he seeks to run out the clock to avoid accountability for his crimes.

We cannot allow justice delayed to become democracy destroyed.

Trump’s trial for fomenting insurrection still can and must take place before this election. But the potential abounds for more collusion from MAGA justices like Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, who could slow-walk the Court’s deliberations to further help Trump. Americans want accountability and deserve to know the jury’s verdict before we cast our verdict as voters.

Please post the following message and image on your social media accounts to demand that the Supreme Court announce its decision on Trump's immunity claim by May 20th so his trial can go forward before the election:

The MAGA Justices on the Supreme Court want to deliver for the billionaires who bought them by blocking Trump from facing criminal trial for the 2020 election insurrection. #JusticeCantWait reject Trump’s immunity claim by May 20th.
