Wednesday, April 20th - LSC Elections / Text Bank / Earth Day Protest

Actions You Can Take Today

Action 1: URGENT - Local School Council Elections

Voting for the Local School Council is an important way to be involved in strengthening our local public schools. Voting for parent and community representative positions is open to both the school's parents and neighbors who live within its boundaries. Find the candidates who are running for your local school's LSC here.

On the website of many schools, there is an LSC page with the candidates' statements posted. Elementary school LSC elections are TODAY, Wednesday, April 20th and high school LSC elections are TOMORROW, Thursday, April 21st.

You must vote at the school on Election Day, between 6 am and 7 pm. Parents can ask to be verified from the school roster or show an ID and a document establishing they are a parent (such as a report card). Community members show two IDs such as a driver's license and credit card (one of the two IDs has to show an address in the school's boundaries so if a license has an old address from elsewhere, then a utility bill or lease, etc.). Other possible IDs and info are listed in this guide.

Action 2: Text Banking Thurs & Fri

Please join Field Team 6 in texting eligible voters (who are likely Democrats) in North Carolina!

You'll be reaching out to get people registered as Democrats, or signed up to vote from home (vote by mail). Making sure people are registered to vote, and that they can vote safely from home, is a super-effective way to make a difference. AND to multiply the good we're doing, we're texting into swing House Districts NC-01 (to KEEP it blue) and NC-13 (to flip it blue!).

Sign up to text bank TOMORROW & Friday!

Action 3: Earth Day Protest Friday

Chicago Climate Youth Coalition is organizing a strike, march and rally as an Earth Day Student Protest to demand green schools for Chicago. The action begins at Buckingham Fountain at 2:30 and there will be a march to Federal Plaza and a rally there at 4:30. Please join us for the march and/or rally.

RSVP and share the event on Facebook.

While some of these Daily Actions come from our own work as Indivisible Chicago Alliance, others are from our many partners working to advance the progressive agenda. We invite you to join us in supporting their work. Postings from partners do not imply Indivisible Chicago Alliance endorsement of specific policies and positions.
