Friday, April 22 - LGBTQ Day of Silence TODAY / Tuesday Phone Bank for Kina Collins

Actions You Can Take Today

Action 1: TODAY - Day of Silence for LGBTQ Students

The GLSEN Day of Silence is a national student-led demonstration where LGBTQ students and allies all around the country—and the world—take a vow of silence to protest the harmful effects of harassment and discrimination against LGBTQ people in schools.

Started in the mid-’90s by two college students, the Day of Silence has expanded to reach hundreds of thousands of students each year. Every April, students go through the school day without speaking, ending the day with Breaking the Silence rallies and events to share their experiences during the protest and bring attention to ways their schools and communities can become more inclusive.

Register to get updates about the event. Whether you’re participating in-person, virtually, or a hybrid of both, we’ve got some stories and resources for your support. We’ve got you covered with virtual and in-person guides, Zoom backgrounds, palm cards, and Break the Silence rally guides.

Action 2: Phone Bank for Kina Collins

We're phone banking to turn out the vote for Kina Collins, our endorsed candidate for Congress in the 7th district. She's also endorsed by the Sunrise Movement, Justice Democrats, and NOW. She has a tough race against the longtime incumbent, Danny Davis. Turnout will be the key!

Join the phone bank for Kina Collins on Tuesday, April 26 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

While some of these Daily Actions come from our own work as Indivisible Chicago Alliance, others are from our many partners working to advance the progressive agenda. We invite you to join us in supporting their work. Postings from partners do not imply Indivisible Chicago Alliance endorsement of specific policies and positions.
