Tuesday Phone Bank for Lauren Underwood on September 13 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM (virtual event). We backed Lauren Underwood in her first run for Congress, in 2018, and since then she has been making us proud and impressing her constituents. But her district has been redrawn to include many voters who are not familiar with her accomplishments. And the the Rs will be coming after her this fall with all the dark money and name-calling they can muster. Help us get her story out in our weekly phone bank.
Tuesday night postcard parties at Gideon Welles on September 13 from 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM at Gideon Welles (4500 N Lincoln Ave). We're back at Gideon Welles every Tuesday evening writing postcards to get our voters to the polls in November! If you can sign up in advance, it helps us let our GW hosts know how many people to expect but last-minute walk-ins are always welcome. We'll be starting with postcards to voters for the critical IL Supreme Court races before transitioning to some critical Congressional races.
Wisconsin Wednesday Phone Bank on September 14 from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM (virtual event). We've teamed up with WisDems to re-elect Governor Tony Evers--Wisconsin's last defense against Republican election treachery--and to help Mandela Barnes unseat the eminently unseatable Senator Ron Johnson. Our careful training and extensive background resources attract volunteers from all over the country.
Texting Party for Lauren Underwood (IL-14) on September 15 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM (virtual event). Join us for our first texting party to re-elect Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (IL-14) for her third term. After signing up, you will receive a confirmation email about registering for the texting party Zoom and how to sign up for our texting software, TextOut. Training will be included at the start of the event, so both new and veteran 2020 texters are all welcome!
Canvass in Kenosha , Wisconsin on September 17 from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Kenosha Dem Party Office (5712 7th Ave, Kenosha, WI). After canvassing we will debrief together to share our experiences in the Kenosha Dems office. After the canvass, we have been invited 15 minutes away for some fun in Racine. There, we will meet with the Secretary of the Wisconsin Democratic Party, Chair of Racine Co. Dems, and partake in the once-yearly Racine celebration of Party on the Pavement in downtown Racine, where we can get lunch.
Michigan canvassing on September 18 from 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM at 2517 Niles Ave, Saint Joseph, MI. Next door in Michigan, the fight is on right now to preserve access to abortion and save democracy in this key battleground state. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is all that stands in the way of a right-wing Republican legislature seeking to criminalize abortion and subvert free and fair elections. For those interested in carpooling, we'll be meeting at Backlot Coffee, 3982 N Avondale Ave, for a 7:30 am departure (everyone will be asked to test for covid and wear masks).
While some of these Daily Actions come from our own work as Indivisible Chicago Alliance, others are from our many partners working to advance the progressive agenda. We invite you to join us in supporting their work. Postings from partners do not imply Indivisible Chicago Alliance endorsement of specific policies and positions.
