Action 1: Volunteer for Brandon Johnson
The time is now to end the parade of Mayors who put corporate interests ahead of people, protected failed policing policies, and perpetuated a city that works best for its wealthiest residents.
Brandon Johnson stands alone in this race as a leader whose progressive policies will create opportunities and a Chicago that works for us all. This is why the Indivisible Chicago Alliance Council has voted unanimously to endorse Brandon Johnson for Mayor.
His opponent, Paul Vallas, would trample civil rights with failed policing strategies, has a catastrophic record of mismanagement that runs educational systems into the ground, and is backed by right-wing extremists. He is a dangerous choice for Chicago.
Please click here for the news release we issued to announce our endorsement. It details the compelling case for electing Brandon Johnson to lead our city in a bold new direction.
Share the details about the exciting change Johnson will bring to our city, and make sure your family, friends and neighbors understand the importance of voting in this election.
But it’s not enough to talk about why we support Johnson and fear Paul Vallas’ extremist platform. With national MAGA donors pouring money into Vallas’ coffers, we must actively campaign for the policies we believe in. We have to do the work.
Sign up now to help boost voter turnout for Brandon Johnson by joining phone banks, canvassing, and other activities scheduled in the few short weeks before the April 4 runoff. Wear your Indivisible gear and look for our Indivisible leaders who will be there to support your work.
Action 2: Save Social Security and Medicare
Kevin McCarthy and the MAGA majority in the House have promised to take the economy hostage, threatening to drive the US to default on our debts if they don’t get their way. Their goal is to slash Social Security, Medicare, and other programs our families and communities rely on. Cuts to these programs could be devastating for seniors, and would pull the rug out from underneath all of us who have paid into the programs. Not to mention the risks of a recession and job losses if Republicans force the government to default on its debt.
President Biden has stood strong, refusing to engage with these bad-faith hostage-takers. He’s also made it clear that Democrats will fight against any cuts to Social Security and Medicare. But Republicans will try and peel off some Democrats, duping them in with promises of “bipartisanship” or “commissions” to find a solution. But we’ve seen this before, and we know Republicans aren’t to be trusted.
There’s a congressional sign-on letter from Reps. Boyle, Kuster, and Jayapal that Democrats can join to make their position clear. We need every Democrat to add their name and commit to:
No negotiations with MAGA hostage-takers
No cuts to Social Security, Medicare, or other public programs
Call your Representative and tell them to sign on to the letter today!
