Action 1: Juneteenth in Evanston 6/17
Evanston’s 4th Annual Juneteenth Parade and Celebrations will be held in partnership with the City of Evanston on Saturday, June 17 and celebrates the Black community's resilience and contributions to our society.
Juneteenth (6/19) is a historic day that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. It is a day of celebration, remembrance, and reflection and is now a federal holiday!
The Evanston Juneteenth Parade and Celebration will provide an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate the progress that has been made since Juneteenth, but also recognize the work that still needs to be done to achieve true equality while bringing more awareness by parading in the streets.
Join the Evanston Juneteenth Parade & Celebration on Saturday, June 17! The parade starts at 10:30 a.m. and the celebration goes from noon to 6 p.m.

Action 2: WE Must Control Our Bodies Protest 6/24
Join a protest AGAINST the "Pro-Life Action League" when it comes to Chicago on June 24th! June 24th is the one-year anniversary of the Supreme Court decision that overturned the nationwide right to abortion. But the attacks on abortion are a symptom of a larger problem: the drive-by rightwing organizations, judges, and politicians to control our own bodies. A tidal wave of legislation in state after state is attacking the rights of Trans people to get gender-affirming healthcare and to participate in public life through sports, restroom access, and more.
In April, the ACLU noted that there are at least 417 anti-LGBTQ bills in state legislatures outlawing everything from equal marriage rights for same-sex couples to LGBTQ-inclusive education in public schools. This spring, the Supreme Court is set to rule on a case, 303 Creative v. Elenis, that could overturn local laws guaranteeing equal access to public accommodations for LGBTQs.
Anti-abortion Texas judges are currently "reviewing" a right-wing organization's legal case that aims to impose a nationwide ban on Mifepristone, one of two drugs used to perform medication-based abortions – 54% of the abortions currently performed in the United States. That case could be heading to the Supreme Court as early as this fall.
In LGBTQ Pride Month and on the one-year anniversary of the overturn of Roe v. Wade, reproductive rights and LGBTQ liberation organizations are uniting with one voice to say: WE Must Control Our Bodies!
Please join us as we protest against the far right and celebrate the core spirit of the 1969 Stonewall Rebellion that rebirthed the LGBTQ movement: Only WE can free us!
Come out for a counter-protest: WE Must Control Our Bodies! on Saturday, June 24 at 10 a.m. at 219 S Dearborn St.
