Action 2: Deep Canvass Institute 101

The Deep Canvass Institute is offering this bi-monthly 101 training where you will be trained to have deep canvass conversations. Deep canvassing is about working to create mutual understanding grounded in stories and lived experience, instead of in debate or talking points. Deep canvassing was developed by organizers and volunteers in the LGBTQ rights movement as a way to turn the tide of a decade of losses at the ballot box, and it draws from the long lineage of organizing work by labor unions and civil rights organizers.

It has since become one of the only tactics scientifically proven to be able to lastingly reduce prejudice, inoculate people against fear-based messaging, and change hearts and minds on our most divisive issues. When we take this approach, people’s experience leads them away from prejudice, stigma, or fear, and towards empathy and a willingness to consider equitable solutions.

Sign up for the sessions on 9/26, 9/27, and 9/30. Please note that this is a three-day training! You must be signed up for all three sessions - Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday in order to receive your certificate of completion for our Deep Canvass Institute 101 Skills Series.

Just curious about deep canvassing but not sure you’re ready to commit to a nine-hour training? Register for our virtual info session, “An Introduction to Deep Canvassing” to learn more.
