Actions You Can Take

  • Action 1: Urge President Biden: Commute the Row, Demolish the Death Chamber & Prevent Trump's Planned Execution Spree

  • Action 2: Tell Congress to stand up against attempts to politicize or eliminate scientific roles, agencies, and federal research

Action 1: Tell Biden to Stop Trump Executions

Donald Trump’s alarming plan to drastically increase executions in the U.S. threatens to undo the progress we've made towards abolishing the federal death penalty.

During his last six months in office, Trump oversaw an unprecedented 13 executions, making him the most-executing president since the 1940s. He ignored clemency petitions and pleas from victim families, leaving serious questions about innocence, mental illness, and racial bias in a system plagued by injustice.

We know that Biden has made strides, like appointing an Attorney General who hasn’t set execution dates, but we must push for even more action. It’s time for him to be unequivocal on this issue. We must urge President Biden to take decisive action:

📞 Call the White House at 202-456-1111 or 202-456-1414: Demand he commute the sentences of those on federal and military death rows, deauthorize all pending capital trials, and rescind harmful execution protocols.

✍️ Sign the Petition: Urge President Biden to uphold his commitment to abolish the death penalty and demolish the federal execution chamber.

Action 2: Preserve Science for the Public Good

We need your voice to defend the science that protects our health, safety, and environment! The agenda put forth by the Trump administration threatens to undermine the very protections that Americans rely on—clean air and water, safe food and medicine, and safeguards against climate change.

Without strong federal science, people will suffer, particularly historically marginalized communities that disproportionately bear the brunt of these harms.

Now is the time to act! Call your representatives in Congress and deliver this crucial message:

Take the First 100 Days Pledge for Science:

  1. Oppose anti-science nominees to federal agencies who refuse to commit to upholding scientific integrity.

  2. Prevent the elimination of federal agencies or their staff through budget cuts or reclassification efforts that threaten scientific expertise.

  3. Defend the safeguards that protect public health and the environment, including essential laws like the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act, which must be grounded in the best available independent science.

Call Congress today!

This is a critical moment for both parties in Congress to unite in championing the science that keeps our communities safe. Your call can help ensure that our leaders prioritize science for the public good.
