Wednesday, December 11 - Tell Governor Pritzker to Protect Illinois / Election Debrief & What's Next
Actions You Can Take
Action 1: Tell Governor Pritzker to Protect Illinois
With Trump set to return to the White House in January, we must act NOW to protect the rights and freedoms of all Illinois residents, especially those traveling from red states.
Help us call on Governor Pritzker to take immediate and proactive measures to shield our state from the harmful policies that Trump is likely to impose. It’s crucial that he uses all available resources to defend our progress and the rights of marginalized communities.
Here are the key points we want to convey to the Governor:
Thank him for his leadership in opposing Trump’s agenda and defending the rights of Illinoisans, especially regarding reproductive rights and support for marginalized communities.
Express deep concern about the potential federal rollbacks on critical issues like healthcare, climate policy, and LGBTQ+ protections.
Urge him to take bold actions, such as calling a special legislative session, creating a state-funded legal defense fund, forming partnerships with other blue states, and implementing protections for out-of-state visitors seeking essential services.
Reinforce the message that Illinois must remain a stronghold for justice, equality, and environmental stewardship.
Now is the time to make our voices heard! Please take a moment to contact Governor Pritzker and let him know we stand together for a safer, more equitable Illinois.
Action 2: Election Debrief & What's Next
The Progressive Turnout Project is hosting a webinar on Thursday, December 19, at 7 PM CT to share insights from the November election results and discuss what’s next.
Although Trump won the election by about 229,766 votes in three states, the efforts of millions—including Indivisible Chicago volunteers—made a real difference in many key races. People like you helped mail 40.3 million postcards mailed, knocked on 5 million doors knocked, and made 1.1 million connections, helping secure important wins in the Senate, House, and state legislatures.
In states where we focused our efforts, the margins were tighter than the national average, helping Democrats win races decided by less than 1%. These victories are crucial as they gear up for the challenges ahead.
Here’s what to expect on December 19:
State-by-state breakdown of where they made an impact
Real-life examples of how these wins will benefit everyday Americans
Sneak peek at upcoming postcard campaigns starting soon
Don’t miss out on this chance to learn and get involved for the future! Sign up here.
