Tuesday, February 13 - Canvass in Kenosha 2/17 / MI Voter Registration

Actions You Can Take

Action 1: Canvass in Kenosha on Saturday

Come canvass in Kenosha's North neighborhood on Saturday, Feb. 17th. Meeting 9AM at Kenosha Democratic Party Office for orientation. Reconvening there by 12 noon to meet with Wisconsin Lieutenant Gov. Sara Rodriguez.

Wisconsin/Kenosha Dems are developing new Neighborhood Teams. Our help is needed to find and work with “home team” volunteers. We also will be helping the home team canvass for their spring elections to defeat MAGA local candidates.

Remember, the difference in outcome of the Presidential race in Wisconsin 2016 to 2020, was only 2 votes per precinct. We know there were lots of new voters in Kenosha who propelled Judge Janet Protasiewicz to victory .

Success in building a home team could have a big impact not only to replace MAGA local officials in the spring, but for the Congressional, Senate, and Presidential election in November as well as for election cycles in the future. Register to join the canvass!

Action 2: MI Voter Registration

In 2024, the path to the White House again runs through our backyard. Michigan and Wisconsin are both rated as toss-up states and their combined 25 Electoral votes are almost one-third of the total for the country’s most competitive states that will determine who wins in November.

As Indivisible Chicago prepares our planned activities this year to keep both states in the blue column and send Donald Trump packing, we have an immediate opportunity to help out in Michigan. Our friends at Statewide Indivisible Michigan (SWIM) are asking for our help registering likely Democratic voters who live where Michigan’s most competitive races will occur.

SWIM is working with the national grassroots voter registration group, Field Team 6, to prepare phone banks, text banks and postcard campaigns to get people registered. They are kicking off the effort with a pilot project in Southwest Michigan – the exact area where Indivisible Chicago will be door-knocking on behalf of our candidates later this year!

Registering voters likely to vote for our candidates is not only one of the effective ways to win elections, it is also extremely gratifying for those of us doing the work. People are genuinely grateful for the phone call, text, or postcard that lets them know where they need to go and what they need to do to register to vote.

So, come join us as we make calls starting this Monday, February 19, from 3:00-5:00pm, or the following Monday, February 26. It’s fun to do this as a group! We’ll meet on Zoom to get the training we need to help get the folks we’re calling registered. At the end of the session, we’ll return to the Zoom room for a debrief and to share stories. Hope to see you there!
