Wednesday, February 28 - Keep Supporting Bring Chicago Home / Pretrial Success Act

Actions You Can Take

Action 1: Support Bring Chicago Home

Bring Chicago Home is STILL on the ballot for the primary election! Despite the efforts of the landlord class and the decision of a credulous judge, the progressive fight against homelessness goes on as planned.

Now more than ever we need phone bankers and canvassers to get the word out that the Bring Chicago Home referendum is still on the March 19 ballot. We’ll give you all the facts you need to dispel the BS and let Chicagoans know they can still VOTE YES for a fairer future. Find a shift and do your part:

Action 2: Support the Pretrial Success Act

In September, Illinois implemented the Pretrial Fairness Act and became the first state in the country to end money bail! We have gotten reports of smooth implementation from across the state and many counties have already seen dramatic reductions in the number of people incarcerated while awaiting trial.

Join us as we continue the fight for pretrial justice by supporting the Pretrial Success Act. This appropriations request would create a grant program for communities to expand access to vital services such as mental health and substance use disorder support, transportation, and child care for people awaiting trial. The distribution of these funds will be informed by our communities and go to health and human services– not law enforcement.

Let your legislators know that you support the Pretrial Success Act!

While some of these Daily Actions come from our own work as Indivisible Chicago Alliance, others are from our many partners working to advance the progressive agenda. We invite you to join us in supporting their work. Postings from partners do not imply Indivisible Chicago Alliance endorsement of specific policies and positions.
