Action 1: TOMORROW - Rideshare Living Wage Rally
Chicago's rideshare drivers are being exploited! We're getting deactivated for no reason, our hours go up while our pay goes down, and we're getting carjacked by our own passengers because Uber and Lyft would rather put drivers in danger than require passengers to provide identification to use the app.
Drivers are rallying to demand that Mayor Lori Lightfoot and the Chicago City Council pass the Rideshare Living Wage and Safety Ordinance, which will provide for driver safety, stop Uber and Lyft from unfairly deactivating drivers, and protect the financial health of drivers AND passengers by capping the percentage of each fare that the big gig corporations take for themselves.
On Tuesday, July 26, at 4pm, rally with us at 1401 W North to win fair pay and treatment for workers and affordable transportation for rideshare passengers in Chicago.

Action 2: Rally to End the Torture at Menard Prison 8/1
Join us on Monday, August 1st at 6 PM to demand an end to the torture at Menard Prison. Our loved ones held at Menard have experienced harassment, mistreatment, neglect, abuse, repression, and, in the case of Michael Jefferson and many more, death at the hands of Menard staff and the Illinois Department of “Corrections” (IDOC). We are calling on IDOC Director Rob Jeffreys and Governor Pritzker to act NOW to address these conditions and bring our loved ones home!
Our demands are:
Transfer Michael Minnifield, Isaiah Brady, and Chaz Thrailkill out of Menard immediately!
Conduct an independent investigation into the conditions at Menard!
Pass the Isolated Confinement Restriction Act HB 3564 NOW!
Hold guards who have abused our loved ones accountable!
Shut Down Menard!
We ask all those who are able to come out and join us as we bring these demands forward in a demonstration. We need every person who can to join us in raising these demands, until Rob Jeffreys and JB Pritzker ACT to address the needs of our loved ones, and until this crisis has the attention it needs. RSVP for the event on Facebook.

Action 3: Wisconsin Canvassing on 8/6
On Saturday, August 6 join us knocking doors in neighboring Wisconsin to help win critical contests this year for Governor and U.S. Senate in this key battleground state. We'll depart Chicago at 7:15am from Backlot Coffee( 3982 N Avondale Ave) for Waukesha. Following a briefing at 9:00am, we'll canvass the rest of the morning with partners from the Waukesha Democratic Party, then de-brief over pizza.
Anyone who wants to can continue to canvass during the afternoon. We’ll arrange deep canvassing, minivan training, and info needed to have effective one-on-one conversations with voters and pair you with a veteran canvasser if this is your first time or you need a refresher. Carpools are available for those who need a ride.
While some of these Daily Actions come from our own work as Indivisible Chicago Alliance, others are from our many partners working to advance the progressive agenda. We invite you to join us in supporting their work. Postings from partners do not imply Indivisible Chicago Alliance endorsement of specific policies and positions.
