Support Asylum Seekers in Chicago

Texas governor Greg Abbott has cruelly been bussing thousands of asylum seekers to Chicago with no warning, no resources, and no support system. The situation is dire. Mayor Lightfoot has issued an emergency declaration in response to the surge of arrivals. According to ABC7, since August of 2022, Chicago has given sanctuary to over 8,000 migrants, who are currently housed in seven shelters and three respite locations in the city. Chicago has stepped up to shelter as many migrants as possible, but these vulnerable families need our help.

The city is asking for residents who to consider donating to Instituto’s Amazon wishlist to help make sure the asylum seekers have basic clothing and necessities.

Help make Chicago a more welcoming city by donating today!
