Action 1: Stand up for our Sanctuary City today and tomorrow
UPDATE: We need your help to reject Trump’s deportation agenda in Chicago.
Indivisible Chicago and Immigrant Rights organizations packed Chicago City Hall Monday to protest proposed changes to Chicago’s Welcoming City Ordinance. These anti-sanctuary changes would allow Chicago Police to work with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), to engage in immigration enforcement. The current Welcoming City Ordinance is an essential public safety ordinance that keeps all Chicagoans safe; the WCO ensures that local law enforcement focuses on local public safety.
A VOTE ON THIS ORDINANCE IS EXPECTED WEDNESDAY MORNING! We need everyone to tell their Alderperson to vote NO!
NOW: Contact your alderperson with this action from the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights. If you are not in Chicago, please watch for similar ordinances where you live, and please forward onto any Chicagoans you know.
Wednesday, January 15th: Please join us Wednesday at 10am at City Council, 121 N Lasalle, when the ordinance will be voted on. Sign up here.
Indivisible Chicago Alliance is a signatory to the letter that was sent to City Council Members in opposition to the proposed changes - signed by hundreds of elected officials, organizations, and community members. Add your voice to this effort to keep Chicago a welcoming city.

While some of these Daily Actions come from our own work as Indivisible Chicago Alliance, others are from our many partners working to advance the progressive agenda.
