Action 1: Defend the Welcoming City Ordinance in Chicago
🚨🚨🚨TODAY IS THE DAY WE NEED TO STAND UP AND SAY CHICAGO IS A WELCOMING CITY!!🚨🚨🚨
The vote to change Chicago’s Welcoming City Ordinance is happening this morning at 10 at City Hall. This would allow Chicago Police to cooperate with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in some instances, and violate the Illinois Trust Act.
Here are actions you can take ASAP:
TODAY: Please stand with us at 10am at City Council, 121 N Lasalle (Randolph entry), when the ordinance will be voted on. Sign up here.
FYI, the council meets at 10, but try to get there much earlier. Some groups will show up starting at 7:30 a.m.
If you can’t attend in person, you can still help! Please call or email your alderperson ASAP and ask them to vote NO on this ordinance. A list of all Alders and their contact information may be found on this link.
Action 2: Continue the Fight on January 25
The attacks on our sanctuary city status show we are in for one heck of a fight when Trump and his MAGA regime take over in just a matter of days. We need to be ready for a slew of challenges, and we can’t do this without YOU.
That’s why you’re invited to our Continue the Fight event on Saturday, January 25. We’ll discuss how we continue the fight, both locally on the ground and nationally, and how you can fit into that plan.
Join Indivisible Chicago and other grassroots groups working to defend those directly impacted by the MAGA agenda to plan for what’s ahead.
Continue the Fight—RSVP here
Saturday, January 25th, 1pm-4pm
Columbia College Chicago (1104 S Wabash Avenue)
While some of these Daily Actions come from our own work as Indivisible Chicago Alliance, others are from our many partners working to advance the progressive agenda. We invite you to join us in supporting their work. Postings from partners do not imply Indivisible Chicago Alliance endorsement of specific policies and positions.
