Partner Action: Stop State AI Regulation Ban
On May 11th, House Republicans added language to a budget bill that would ban states from regulating AI for 10 years, even though over 30 states have laws addressing AI risks like deepfakes and nonconsensual content. The bill is now in reconciliation in the Senate.
The Trump administration has already rolled back Biden-era AI regulations, favoring big tech companies over consumer rights. Critics, including tech safety groups and Democrats, warn this provision would weaken protections for children and users, allowing companies to ignore privacy and safety concerns.
