ICA Partner Action: IL-09 Candidate Forum TONIGHT

Join us for a special IL-9 Democratic Candidate Forum on Zoom, hosted by NWSOFA-Indivisible and co-sponsored by Indivisible Evanston and Indivisible Skokie/Morton Grove an Indivisible Illinois. With longtime Representative Jan Schakowsky retiring, this open-seat race offers voters an important opportunity to choose the next voice to represent the 9th District in Congress.

Moderators Bill Davis and Sid Siddharth will guide the discussion through a mix of pre-selected and audience-submitted questions on major domestic and international issues. Each candidate will also share a brief profile and closing statement, helping you understand their priorities and vision for the district.

👉 Join the IL-09 Candidate Forum online TONIGHT at 7 p.m.

Parter Action: Restore Funding for Life-Saving SNAP & WIC Benefits

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program provide essential food assistance to millions of vulnerable US residents. These programs not only fight hunger but also reduce child abuse and health care costs while improving recipients’ health.

The Trump administration is refusing to use $5 billion in contingency funds to continue SNAP benefits during the government shutdown, and the US Department of Agriculture has announced that federal food aid will not go out on November 1. The 42 million people who rely on SNAP benefits and the nearly 7 million pregnant people, new parents, and infants and children who depend on WIC will be without food supports.

👉 Congress must act to end this shutdown and preserve food access for millions.

Script: Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [ZIP CODE]. I'm extremely concerned about the impact of the government shutdown on SNAP and WIC benefits for millions of Americans. I’m calling to urge [NAME] to demand the use of USDA contingency funds and any other available funding sources to keep these programs running while still holding firm against any federal budget deal that does not extend the ACA tax credits.

Partner Action: Tell Lawmakers to Oppose KOSA

KOSA won’t make kids more safe. Instead, it’ll put youth in danger by preventing them from accessing resources they need. Concern about young people’s harm from Big Tech are valid and real, but enabling censorship that harms the most marginalized kids is not the answer.

Lawmakers concerned about online safety should reject KOSA and instead work to protect all internet users from abusive tech companies by passing a federal data privacy law and measures that do not threaten online communities that queer and trans youth depend on.

👉 Send a letter to your lawmakers now and tell them to reject KOSA!
