ICA Action: MI Monday and WI Wednesday Phone Banks

Join us as we call voters living in swing districts that are crucial for winning back power in the Midterms this November. We’ll be using an innovative approach developed by our friends at Swing Left called Ground Truth that focuses on having deep, meaningful conversations with voters. With Ground Truth we will:

  • Call all types of voters -- not just those we know will vote like us.

  • Have meaningful conversations that focus on listening to voters’ concerns.

  • Gather insights to share with campaigns, so they can be responsive to voters’ needs and smarter with their messaging, targeting, and outreach.

👉 Wisconsin Wednesday Phone Banks Start June 10

👉 Michigan Monday Phone Banks Start June 15

Indivisible Chicago phone banks attract enthusiastic and committed volunteers from all across the country. We provide training, background resources, and one-on-one support throughout your shift. We’ll be using a state-of-the-art autodialer that connects you quickly with voters.

Community Action: Support Affordable Homes

Illinois has just one law aimed at building affordable homes in our most expensive communities — the Affordable Housing Planning and Appeal Act (AHPAA). It's 20 years old, and it's overdue for a tune-up. HB 5198 is that fix, and it needs your senator's vote now.

The bill has cleared a major hurdle. Now it's the Senate's turn — and your senator needs to hear that you're watching.

What HB 5198 does:

  • Brings more communities to the table. Today, only 3.5% of Illinois municipalities have to plan for affordable housing. This modest update roughly doubles that — while exempting the smallest towns that lack the capacity to comply.

  • Makes the appeals process actually work. For 20+ years, AHPAA's path for unfairly rejected affordable developments has gone untested. HB 5198 borrows proven fixes from other states so good projects don't die in red tape.

  • Adds real accountability. Communities that ignore the law can be referred to the Attorney General.

We're short more than 250,000 affordable homes statewide. Housing costs are pushing working families — disproportionately Black and brown families — out of Illinois entirely. We can't afford to wait another 20 years.

Two minutes is all it takes. Our calling tool connects you directly to your state senator and gives you everything to say.

👉 Call your state senator now and demand they support HB 5198.
