Monday, July 20 - Vigil to Demand Justice for ICE Victims 7/25 / Oppose Todd Blanche / WisDems Poll Observers
ICA Action: Vigil to Demand Justice for ICE Victims 7/25
On July 7, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Houston while driving a work van with his crew. On July 13, ICE fatally shot 26-year-old Johan Sebastian Guerrero in Biddeford, Maine — his wife and toddler forced to witness his murder.
Both men were beloved members of their communities, killed on their way to work.
These are only the most recent lives taken. Here in Chicago, we continue to mourn the killing of Silverio Villegas González. We recognize that more than 60 people have died following encounters with ICE in 2025 and 2026 alone. We gather to grieve these devastating losses, demand accountability for every life taken—including those in our own communities—and call for an end to this violence.
Join us for a vigil to demand Justice for Lorenzo. Justice for Johan. Justice for Silverio. Justice for All.
👉 Join the community vigil on Saturday, July 25, 11am – 12:30pm at Michigan Ave. & Ida B. Wells Dr.
Community Action: Oppose Todd Blanche for Attorney General
Trump has nominated his former personal criminal defense attorney, Todd Blanche, to serve as Attorney General of the United States. There are serious concerns that he will further politicize the Justice Department. Blanche has pursued investigations into several of Trump’s perceived political enemies, leading former prosecutors and legal scholars to warn that the department is being used as a tool for political retaliation.
Blanche also praised Trump’s mass pardons of January 6 defendants and helped create the controversial $1.8 billion “Anti-Weaponization Fund” for the so-called political victims of the Biden administration. Last year, he traveled to Florida to meet with convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, who reportedly received limited immunity to answer questions during the unorthodox interview.
The Attorney General is the nation’s top law enforcement officer, not the president’s personal attorney.
👉 The Senate should reject the nomination of Todd Blanche.

Script: Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from Chicago. I'm calling to ask Senator Durbin to oppose Todd Blanche for Attorney General. Todd Blanche has shown that his loyalty is to the president, not the Constitution or the American public, making him unfit to serve as Attorney General.
