Wednesday, October 1 - Impeach Pete Hegseth / Drinks for Democracy 10/9 / 2025 IL Bills

Partner Action: Impeach Pete Hegseth

Pete Hegseth’s is a disgrace. Yesterday, he gave a highly political speech at an unprecedented military gathering, attacking “woke” behavior, women in the military, and threatening to dismiss dissenters. Just weeks earlier, he threatened to revoke journalists’ access and eliminated the long-standing Advisory Committee on Women in the Services, citing divisive feminism.

He also failed to inform the Trump administration of his unilateral pause on Ukraine weapons deliveries, risking U.S. support. In March, he was implicated in sharing classified military attack plans in unsecured Signal chats with colleagues who lacked clearance, risking national security. These incidents reveal Hegseth’s reckless behavior, lack of qualifications, and potential violations of the Espionage Act.

👉 Call on Congress to demand his immediate resignation—our national security depends on it.

Script: Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [ZIP CODE]. I’m calling today to express my deep outrage about Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s dangerous speech, where he openly encouraged our military to commit war crimes, even on US soil against US citizens. Demanding our military to blindly follow political and illegal orders is grossly authoritarian, and puts our national security and individual freedom at risk. I ask that [NAME] immediately move to impeach him as Secretary.

Partner Action: Support 2025 IL Bills

This spring, the 104th Illinois General Assembly passed more than two dozen of the bills we fought for and the Governor signed them into law. A huge step forward, but our work is not done.

From October 14–30, the ILGA reconvenes for its veto session. This is our chance to push forward critical legislation still on the table, including bills to:

  • Address violence against women

  • Strengthen reproductive rights

  • Ensure menstrual equity

  • Secure housing, and more!

👉 CALL TO ACTION: Contact your Illinois state legislators and urge them to support and pass these billsYour voice makes the difference!
