On the Crisis in Gaza

As the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza deepens by the hour, we are outraged by the mass death, destruction and unbearable suffering inflicted on Palestinian civilians by the Netanyahu government.

We are all witnesses to a moral and legal crisis of historic proportions. The relentless bombing campaigns, the starvation and siege conditions, and systematic targeting of Gazan civilians —crimes that leading human rights experts have named for what they are: genocide—must be met with global condemnation and immediate action.

Silence is complicity. Our values, our humanity and our conscience compel us to speak out with clarity and urgency.

We reiterate our calls for an immediate and permanent ceasefire and the unimpeded flow of food, medicine, and aid to the people of Gaza. We unconditionally condemn the horrific terrorist attacks carried out by Hamas on October 7, 2023, which resulted in the brutal killing of Israeli civilians and the abduction of hostages. We continue to call for the safe release of all hostages and remain outraged by the violence directed at civilians and the rise of hatred directed in this country at the Muslim and Jewish communities.

We further demand an end to the United States’ complicity in perpetuating this atrocity. American-made weapons, funded by our tax dollars, are fueling the escalating death toll of innocent civilians. The United States must immediately halt all military aid, arms shipments, and similar support for the Israeli government's war. The U.S. should also do everything it can to ensure that humanitarian aid immediately reaches the residents of Gaza. This must end - now. There is no justification for genocide.

Sincerely and respectfully,

The Indivisible Chicago Alliance Board
