Venezuela
Indivisible Chicago strongly condemns the Trump regime’s attack on the sovereign nation of Venezuela. It is illegal, unconstitutional, destructive, and will lead to more violence. This action was taken unilaterally by Trump without any Congressional authorization. The use of force in this attack is also a violation of international law. The world is a far more dangerous place as the US demonstrates that it will use unaccountable violence against anyone, anywhere, at will.
Whatever Trump’s motives are – and they certainly seem to be motivated by Venezuela’s oil – nothing justifies this brutal attack. Liberation cannot be delivered through invasion and imposed governance. When the U.S. overrides sovereignty, it is exercising domination—not freedom.
We call on Congress to exercise their constitutional authority and remind Trump that there are no kings in America. We will join with others in Chicago, Illinois and across this Country to take action against this and the many other cruel and illegal actions of the Trump Regime.
