Join the Save Our SNAP Virtual Phone Bank to learn about these threats, proposed legislation that can protect families cut off from SNAP in Illinois, and how to contact your legislators to urge them to support these policies.

Community Action: Tell Congress No More ICE and CBP Funding

For months, communities across the country have lived in terror as federal immigration enforcement agents have patrolled, surveilled, detained, disappeared, injured, and killed civilians, as well as denied people’s constitutional rights by attacking and arresting peaceful protestors.

Yet Congress is considering a fast-track legislative process to allocate billions of additional dollars to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the very agencies that are terrorizing our communities. All the while, millions of Americans are struggling to meet their basic needs.

πŸ‘‰ Demand that Congress reject any additional funding for ICE and CBP.

ICA Partner Action: Show Up Chicago 4/27

Presented monthly by the Blue Beginning chapter of Indivisible Chicago, Show Up Chicago is a combination community gathering, cocktail hour, and political panel show at Chicago's most highly evolved saloon. It's a great chance to mingle with like-minded neighbors, hear the latest from political insiders, and gossip about the issues we all care about.

Our topic this month will be The New New Journalism: As legacy media outlets crumble (and capitulate), we're getting more and more of our news from independent DIY reporters working through platforms like Substack, TikTok, YouTube, etc. As news consumers, who do we trust? How do we verify? What are the implications for the all-important midterm elections coming in November?

Our guests will be former Tribune editor Mark Jacob, now proprietor of the Substack media newsletter Stop the Presses, and Steve Held, cofounder of the independent news site Unraveled.

πŸ‘‰ Join the event on Monday, April 27 from 7 – 8:30pm at The Hideout (1354 W Wabansia Ave). Doors and bar open at 6, program 7-8:30. Free and open to all, but please RSVP.

While some of these Daily Actions come from our own work as Indivisible Chicago Alliance, others are from our many partners working to advance the progressive agenda. We invite you to join us in supporting their work. Postings from community partners do not imply Indivisible Chicago Alliance endorsement of specific policies and positions.
