Thursday, October 8 - Hop on the Bus to Canvass in MI 10/11 / No Federal Funds for Trump Propaganda / Don't Boo...Vote! Ballot Prep 10/15
ICA Action: Hop on the Bus to Canvass in MI 10/11
Michigan is a critical battleground this November, and we’re heading to Benton Harbor to talk with voters and help turn out the vote.
We have two canvassing shifts each Sunday: an early shift from 10 AM–1:30 PM ET and an afternoon shift from 12–3:30 PM ET. Sandwiches and water will be available at 1 PM for volunteers between shifts. Carpools are available, too!
👉 Sign up to canvass in Michigan on October 11 or 18.
On October 11, you can also hop on a bus from Chicago’s West Loop. We’ll provide training on the Ground Truth canvassing app during the ride, then pair up to knock doors in Benton Harbor. Afterward, we’ll gather at the nearby Livery for a rally and celebration before heading back to Chicago.
Community Action: No Federal Funds for Trump Propaganda
The Trump administration is using public funds meant for U.S. Customs and Border Protection to pay for pro-Trump propaganda ahead of the midterm elections. The Department of Homeland Security has tapped $20 million from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act for campaign-style television ads that glorify Trump, and has already spent more than $2.5 million airing them.
House Democrats say OMB Director Russ Vought moved the funds to the “public service” campaign on September 19, with ads running during college football and NFL broadcasts. Unlike other administrations’ public service announcements, experts say these are not designed to help Americans access any specific program, but rather they echo the GOP’s midterm slogans over imagery of Trump’s time in office. Congress holds the power of the purse, and it has both the authority and the responsibility to stop this blatant misuse of funds.

Script: Hi, my name is [NAME], and I’m a constituent from [CITY]. I’m calling to urge that [NAME] enforce the law and block the Trump administration from illegally funding political propaganda with taxpayer money. Federal funds meant for public services should never pay for blatantly partisan ads promoting the president.
