Tuesday, May 6 - Witness Slip Roundup / Oppose Frank Bisignano as Social Security Commissioner / Free Our Moms Day Vigil 2025
Partner Action: Witness Slip Roundup
The Illinois General Assembly is back in Session, and now’s the time to make your voice heard! A Witness Slip is a person or group's position on a particular bill. Filling out a witness slip is a great way to let legislators know whether you support or oppose a bill.
Witness slips are read during a committee hearing and help inform legislators as to where people stand, allowing informed decisions when voting. Witness slips are a quick way to make your voice heard in state government.
👉 Fill out these witness slips as PROPONENT to support legislation that addresses gender-based violence, and improves maternal and infant health. Even if you have submitted a witness slip for a particular bill in a previous committee hearing, you still need to submit a new witness slip for this upcoming hearing.
Not sure how to fill out a witness slip? Check the link above for instructions!

Partner Action: Oppose Frank Bisignano as Social Security Commissioner
Social Security is a lifeline for 73 million Americans — but it’s under threat. This week, the Senate will vote on whether to confirm DOGE ally and Wall Street executive Frank Bisignano to lead the Social Security Administration (SSA).
Bisignano has openly described himself as “fundamentally a DOGE person” and plans to use A.I. to hunt for so-called “fraud” — echoing discredited claims pushed by Elon Musk and Trump. Experts warn this is a thinly veiled attempt to slash benefits and dismantle the SSA from the inside.
Lawmakers like Senator Elizabeth Warren and Senator Ron Wyden have raised serious red flags, warning that Bisignano’s confirmation could accelerate efforts to privatize Social Security and harm millions of retirees, survivors, and people with disabilities.

Script: Hi, my name is [NAME] and I'm a constituent from [CITY, ZIP]. I'm calling to demand [REP/SEN NAME] reject the nomination of Frank Bisignano to lead the Social Security Administration. He is a Wall Street executive and DOGE ally who will put the financial stability of 73 million Americans at risk to push the agency toward greedy privatization.
