Partner Action: Restore USDA Funding for Food Banks and Schools

The Trump administration has cut over a billion dollars in federal programs that support schools and food banks in purchasing food from local farms. Additionally, the USDA has drastically reduced shipments to food banks through the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) without any explanation.

These cuts not only threaten food security but also harm local economies, particularly in rural areas where farmers are already feeling the impact. Food insecurity is on the rise, with 13.5% of Americans affected in 2023—the highest rate in nearly a decade.

While some Congressional Democrats are advocating for the restoration of this funding, it's vital to ensure these programs, authorized under the Commodity Credit Corporation Charter Act, are not redirected or eliminated without congressional approval.

👉 Call on Congress to restore this funding!

Script: I'm calling to urge [Rep/Senator name]  to assert their legal "power of the purse" and demand that crucial USDA funding for food banks, schools, and farmers be restored immediately.

Partner Action: Take the Chicago Voter Engagement Survey by April 5

The Chicago Board of Elections has released a citywide online survey to gather information and opinions on Chicagoans’ voting experience and the top issues facing our elections. This feedback will be used to help shape the agenda for the future of voting in Chicago and Illinois.

The survey includes questions related to:

  • Voter experience at the polls

  • Voter turnout, participation and engagement

  • The future of voting and new methods of conducting our elections

  • Challenges and opportunities facing voters and our election system

This survey is intended for voters who reside within the City of Chicago and takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes to complete. Voters can submit their responses through Saturday, April 5, 2025.

👉 Chicago voters can take the survey by clicking here!
