Thursday, November 6 - Support Detained Chicago Teacher / Know Your Rights Training 11/9 / Edens Overpass Visibility Events

Parter Action: Support Detained Chicago Pre-School Teacher

A beloved preschool teacher was illegally detained by ICE yesterday morning while showing up to work. She was taken away as crying children and parents watched.

Her two young children are now left without a caregiver. Our hearts break for her family, and we stand united in demanding her immediate release.

👉 We call upon local and federal authorities, including the Chicago Immigration Office and members of congress, to intervene immediately and rectify this grievous mistake.

ICA Partner Action: Know Your Rights Training 11/9

Join Indivisible Greater West Loop, 34th Ward Alderman Bill Conway, 27th Ward Alderman Walter 'Red' Burnett, and 5th District State Senator Lakesia Collins for a community event focused on learning, solidarity, and action.

Community leaders from Latinos Progresando will lead a Know Your Rights training for allies, and Dr. Evelyn Figueroa, Director of the Pilsen Food Pantry, will share how current policies are impacting immigrant families in the area — and how we can help.

We’ll also be collecting winter clothing for the Pilsen Food Pantry! Please bring new or gently used coats, gloves, hats, or scarves to donate.

👉 Join the event on Sunday, November 9 from 1 – 3pm at UIC Student Center East (750 S Halsted St).

Partner Action: Edens Overpass Visibility Events

It turns out ICE is being housed, not in government housing, but in our own backyard at the Marriott Residence Inn in Deerfield.

Let’s turn out to say they are not welcome on our streets and in our communities. Sign up to join us!

We’ll bring our banners, bring yourself, your home-made signs and your neighbors! Stand up in RESISTANCE to the militarization of our communities.

👉 Join an upcoming event!
