ICA Action: WI & MI Phone Banks This Week
Even though the primaries in both states are over, we will still be using the Ground Truth Approach of having meaningful conversations with voters about their concerns and perspectives on any and all issues. We will provide volunteers with some information on the primary winners, but the focus is not on promoting candidates.

Community Action: Ban ICE’s Electric Shock Gloves and Investigate Excessive Force
The Trump administration and DHS are considering spending up to $20 million on G.L.O.V.E. devices—gloves that deliver electric shocks on contact to inflict pain and disrupt muscle movement. This proposal arrives amid heightened scrutiny over ICE’s use of force, such as a recent Virginia incident where a masked agent pointed a gun at U.S. citizen Carolina Molina, despite video evidence contradicting agent claims that she tried to run them over.
Electric shock gloves could make ICE abuse even easier. The manufacturer says the device works by causing pain and disrupting coordinated muscle movement. Its own instructions warn against using the gloves as punishment or in response to verbal defiance and caution against use on children, pregnant people, older people, and people with severe disabilities.
Because federal agents lack absolute immunity for unreasonable conduct, state officials retain authority to investigate excessive force. New York leaders like Attorney General Letitia James and Governor Kathy Hochul are already reviewing options to protect residents and enforce accountability.
Sample script: I urge immediate action against DHS’s $20 million plan to equip ICE agents with electric shock gloves. Amid ongoing excessive force concerns, these dangerous devices risk widespread abuse. State legislators must ban government agents from using shock gloves, and the Attorney General should investigate and prosecute any federal misuse of force.

Join Indivisible Chicago knocking doors in Wisconsin. Winning back the House is crucial to halting the disastrous policies of Trump’s second term. So we’re focused on Wisconsin Congressional District 1 where Mitch Berman, a progressive Democrat, has a good shot at unseating a Republican incumbent with a Trump support score of 99% in 2025. And we’ll also be helping elect a Democratic governor.
Don’t be lulled by headlines about Trump’s tanking popularity. We can win, but it’s going to take a strong ground game to build a progressive response to the current chaos. We need to reach voters, talk about what’s at stake and let them know how important their vote is.
We'll make the less than 90-minute drive from Chicago to our meetup location in Wisconsin (exact location coming soon). We'll provide all the info and prep you'll need and will have carpools for anyone needing a ride.
