ICA Partner Action: Phone Bank for Georgia 5/17

There is a monumental Supreme Court election happening in Georgia. There are 2 progressive candidates that are running against 2 of the right-wing incumbents who reinstated Georgia's 6-week abortion ban.

In these times, the judiciary has worked to both save democracy and stifle democracy. We know the importance of getting judges in place that reflect progressive values. (Look at what is happening in Virginia currently. A Circuit Judge has put a hold on Redistricting after the people in the state voted for it.)

The Georgia Supreme Court candidates are: Miracle Rankin, a former president of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys, and former Democratic state Sen. Jen Jordan. They have been endorsed by Planned Parenthood, and are supported by the Georgia Democratic party.

👉 Join Indivisible Illinois on Zoom on Sunday May 17 at 4 pm CT, as we work to help get these progressive candidates, Ms Rankin and Sen Jordan, on the Georgia Supreme Court.

ICA Chapter Action: Show Up Chicago 5/18

Presented monthly by the Blue Beginning chapter of Indivisible Chicago, Show Up Chicago is a combination community gathering, cocktail hour, and political panel show at Chicago's most highly evolved saloon. It's a great chance to mingle with like-minded neighbors, hear the latest from political insiders, and gossip about the issues we all care about.

This month our issue is housing and Governor Pritzker's BUILD proposal to cut red tape and encourage construction statewide. What would BUILD mean for Chicago? Will city pols support it? Should they? How will it affect their cherished aldermanic privilege? We'll discuss with Richard Day of the must-read Substack newsletter "A City That Works," and State Rep Eva-Dina Delgado, whose 3rd district includes parts of Logan Square, Belmont-Cragin, and Elmwood Park.

👉 Join us on Monday, May 18 at 7 p.m. at The Hideout (1354 W Wabansia Ave).
