Indivisible Action: No Payouts for Insurrectionists

The Department of Justice announced the creation of a nearly $1.8B slush fund that Trump plans to use to pay insurrectionists with our tax dollars. And if that was not enough, Trump is claiming that this was in “exchange” for dropping his lawsuit against the IRS and had his henchmen at the DOJ include language demanding permanent protection from prosecution for Trump and his family.

Beyond the reality that this is yet another brazen attempt at stealing public funds to reward his cronies, this is unconstitutional. Only Congress can decide how our funds are spent, and even the GOP agrees. But instead of blocking the slush fund, Republicans packed up and went home for recess early while they buy more time to avoid doing anything on the slush fund and prepare to jam through billions for ICE and Border Patrol.

Every Member of Congress, regardless of party, should be opposed to this egregious overreach.

👉 Urge them to block Trump’s slush fund now.

Community Action: WisDems Voter Protection Phone Banks

The stakes in Wisconsin, whether it's for the August primary or the November, are enormous. The work that we do now in partnership with the WisDems Voter Protection Team will shape whether WI will have the capability to protect the vote, or whether the forces of extreme partisanship will be victorious in their voter suppression efforts.

If you’re organized, responsive, and interested in supporting election integrity in a more hands-on way, WisDems VoPro would love to hear from you.

👉 Here's how you can help: make calls from you home to recruit WI poll observers as a SuperVol! Reach out to Tristan @ tristan.angulo@wisdems.org for more info!

Community Action: Support Treatment not Trauma in Chicago!

Treatment Not Trauma’s vision for public safety is rooted in care, prevention, and access to community-based support. The campaign advocates for fully funding mental health services and expanding Chicago's non-police Crisis Assistance Response and Engagement (CARE) teams so that people experiencing mental health and social emotional crises can receive appropriate treatment and support.

The vision includes investing in mental health clinics, mobile crisis response teams like CARE, and other trauma-informed supports across Chicago’s communities. Supporters believe that strengthening these systems can improve public safety by ensuring behavioral health professionals respond to mental health and social service needs, providing more appropriate and effective support to individuals in crisis, and connecting them to long-term care and stability while also allowing police officers to focus their time and resources on the responsibilities they are best trained to handle.

Treatment Not Trauma also supports a commonsense funding approach: if CARE is able to successfully respond to a portion of calls currently handled by CPD, then dollars saved when CPD takes fewer mental health calls should help fund and expand the CARE teams designed to handle those calls. Supporters believe this approach benefits both communities and officers while helping Chicago scale a more effective and compassionate public safety system.

👉 If you support this vision for public safety in Chicago, please add your name here and share with others to help show support for fully funding mental health in Chicago.
