Wednesday, July 15 - Tell Senators Durbin & Duckworth to Oppose CORCA TODAY / Oppose Todd Blanche's Confirmation / Keep Pressure on to Stop the OMB Rule
URGENT Action: Tell Senators Durbin and Duckworth to Oppose CORCA TODAY
The Combating Organized Retail Crime Act (CORCA) would dramatically expand the surveillance and enforcement powers of the Department of Homeland Security, giving DHS greater access to consumer data and increasing ICE's role in a new intelligence apparatus. As communities continue to demand accountability for immigration enforcement, many advocates argue this is the wrong direction.
The House has already passed CORCA, and the Senate could vote on it soon. Both Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth are original co-sponsors. Now is the time to urge them to withdraw their support and vote NO on CORCA, including if it is offered as an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act.
👉 Call Senator Durbin:(202) 224-2154 or (312) 353-4952. Urge him to withdraw his support for CORCA and vote NO.
👉 Call Senator Duckworth:(202) 224-2854 or (312) 886-3506. Urge her to withdraw her support for CORCA and vote NO.
Call Script: My name is [NAME] and I’m calling from [CITY/STATE]. I’m calling to urge [SENATOR NAME] to withdraw support for the Combating Organized Retail Crime Act and vote NO if it is considered by the Senate, including as an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act. We cannot enact any further expansion of DHS and ICE powers without accountability and oversight.
Partner Action: Keep the Pressure on Congress to Stop the OMB Rule
The Trump administration's proposed Office of Management and Budget (OMB) rule would make it easier to politicize federal grant-making, threatening independent research and the fair distribution of federal funding.
Stand Up for Science and partner organizations have already helped generate nearly 500,000 public comments opposing the rule—but the campaign isn't over.
Now is the time to keep the pressure on Congress. Lawmakers need to hear that their constituents expect them to stand up for science, protect evidence-based policymaking, and oppose efforts to politicize federal funding.

Partner Action: Tell Your Senators to Oppose Todd Blanche's Confirmation
Todd Blanche, President Trump's nominee for U.S. attorney general, is appearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee this week as part of the confirmation process. With a narrow majority on the committee and in the full Senate, every vote could matter. Senators should hear from constituents before the confirmation process moves forward.
Take a few minutes today to call your senators and urge them to oppose Todd Blanche's nomination for attorney general.
