ICA Action: Block Trump’s Pentagon Budget

Trump has already slashed over $1 trillion in funding from health care and food assistance programs over the next decade. Now he wants to increase the Pentagon budget to over $1.5 trillion, a $600 billion increase over 2025. And he wants to make even bigger cuts to health care, climate, housing, food, and other human needs.

Trump is pushing for increased Pentagon spending in three steps–a $250 billion increase in the Pentagon budget, an $88 billion Iran war funding bill, and a $350 billion increase in a separate future bill.

The first of these comes next week in a vote to approve the National Defense Authorization Act.  If it fails to get 60 votes, Democrats will have negotiating power to block these massive Pentagon funding increases.

👉 Tell Senator Durbin and Senator Duckworth to vote against the NDAA next week, and to oppose any increases in the Pentagon budget in 2027.

Script: My name is ____________ and I am calling from CITY, STATE.I am calling to urge Senator (NAME) to vote against President Donald Trump’s request for a $1.5 trillion Pentagon budget.

I urge you to VOTE AGAINST any increase to the Pentagon budget. I urge you to VOTE FOR CUTS to the Pentagon budget. Trump has already cut over a trillion dollars from funds for health care and food assistance.  He is also cutting funding for education and climate action.  He is using this money to dramatically increase funding for the Pentagon. Please oppose Trump’s $1.5 trillion Pentagon budget and oppose any increase in Pentagon funding this year. This money should be invested in meeting basic needs in our communities.Thank you.

You’ll also hear about the next steps we have planned for this fight.

Featured speakers include scientists and community members directly affected by the administration’s actions, members of Congress, leaders from AAUP, AFT, and SUFS.
