Indivisible Action: Election Protection 101 & 201
Calling all Indivisibles who are ready to demand Hands Off Our Vote! This August, Indivisible is holding two trainings on election protection: the actions you and those around you can take to ensure every eligible voter can vote, every vote is counted, and the results are honored and the winners seated. Join us in a 2-part training series for guidance on how to activate the vote, become a trusted messenger, prepare for election defense scenarios, and get in formation for fall activations.
These trainings will build on each other but will not cover exactly the same content. Come to both if you can, but it's okay if you can only attend one! Everyone who signs up will receive the recording and materials in the follow-up email.

Community Action: Protect Sacred Site Mato Thipila
The U.S. Forest Service is now accepting public comments on a proposed open-pit mine next to Mato Tipila (Bear Lodge), which would threaten the cultural, spiritual, and ecological integrity of this sacred site. Rare Earth Minerals Inc. submitted its plan of operations to build a 100+ acre open-pit mine that would operate for nearly 20 years.
The Bear Lodge Rare Earth Project is located approximately 12 miles north of Sundance, WY, and includes 1,060 acres of National Forest Service lands and 640 acres of private lands. This project will have an impact on Unci Maka (Grandmother Earth) through the local air quality; potential exposure to radioactive or hazardous elements; desecration of the sacred site; affect wildlife species and habitats, including northern long-eared bats; and impacts on local water resources and quality, acid rock drainage, and radiation risks associated with processing rare earth-bearing mineral deposits.
